The 'Club' version is intended for competitions played 'within' a small or medium-sized dart club (a large dart club with multiple licenses would also work fine with this system). On this page you will find more information about the capabilities and features of this system.
To be able to play games with the WebDarts system, you have to log in to a specific page (which can be 'www.webdarts.nl/clubname'). Each system has multiple users and they can have different permissions. Basically there are three types of users: players, managers and administrators. Managers have the same capabilities as players, plus a few extra features. Administrators have the same options as managers, but again a few extra functions.
After logging in, the menu is shown, below an explanation of what you can find in the most important sections.
If a user is logged in as a manager or administrator, one or two additional sections are available that offer more settings. These settings will affect all users (see below).
The current system offers the possibility to play different types of competitions:
Multiple competitions can be played in a WebDarts environment and managers and administrators can set which players compete in each competition. For certain competitions the administrator can determine whether an attendance table is required. When that option is activated, the presense can be set on the Home page. The planning page will only show games for which both players are present.
To play a game, a game must be selected on the Planning page. The game is then played on the Board page. The players can enter the scores themselves, or a third person can do this. The players can play together in a single location, or then can play from two locations. When a game is being played, spectators can view live scores from this page as well (from another screen and/or another location).
If a tablet or computer crashes, or if the internet connection is lost during a game, that's no problem. The scores up to that point have already been saved. Once the computer is restarted, the game can be continued starting from the last entered score.
To prevent incorrect input as much as possible, the scores are validated before they are saved. A score of 181 is not possible, but a finish of 169 is not accepted either. A score of 32 when there are only 16 points left, will result in a score of 0. Previously entered scores can be undone, up to the start of the leg. The winner of the bull and each finish must be confirmed (check). Once confirmed, the scores for that leg are final.
During a game, statistics will be shown at the end of each set or leg. At the end of the game, statistics of the entire match are shown as well. The Ranking page shows positions on the basis of all completed games. This page will also show various statistics, such as 100+/140+/180 scores. The system offers multiple options for calculating the average scores and finish percentages. The administrator can change these settings, see below.
If a user is logged in as a manager or administrator, they have an extra section in the menu (Manager) and through that section the following functions are available:
In summary, a manager has certain powers that are necessary for organizing a 'normal' evening at a dart club. If something needs to be done that requires more privileges, the manager can enlist the help of an administrator. But of course the system can also work without managers, but you will need one administrator at the very least.
If a user is logged in as an administrator, they have an extra section in the menu (Admin) and through that section the following functions are available:
There are quite a number of options that the administrator can set for each competition. Among those are options that deytermine how average scores and finish percentages should be calculated. These settings affect how scores should be entered. For example, it may or may not be necessary to enter how many darts were used (1, 2 or 3) for a finish. Those settings are made by the administrator.
Last but not least: the administrator has the option to export data to csv files. The purpose of this fiunction is to enable offline backups, but these files can also be opened in Excel. Either for further analysis, or to import data into other systems.
There are two demo's available, to give you the chance to see how the system works. You can look around and play games anonymously. Just click on one of the links below and test the system!
